On Thursday, January 23, 2020, the Annual Consent Decree Public Meeting will be held at 1800 Washington Blvd., headquarters of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), in Baltimore. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

The meeting provides an opportunity for residents to receive information about specific parts of the City’s Modified Consent Decree, a legal agreement between the City of Baltimore and Federal and State regulators, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Maryland Department of the Environment, to address sanitary overflows from the sewer collection system.

Residents will be able to speak with Department of Public Works (DPW) experts at individual learning stations on location. Covered topics will include preventive maintenance programs, the Headworks Project, and the Expedited Reimbursement Program for basement backups caused by wet-weather events.  

DPW’s Chief of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, Paul DeSantis, will review the Department’s work over the last 12 months to meet the terms and conditions of the Modified Consent Decree.
