BALTIMORE, MD (December 17, 2013) Public Works Director Alfred H. Foxx today reminds everyone that holiday recycling is a gift to every person who wants a sustainable and cleaner environment. This year’s wrapping paper, gift boxes, holiday cards, party streamers and plastic bottles could be next year’s clothing, tablets, shoes or books. Glass bottles, jars and cans may also be recycled into containers for future celebrations.   If you receive electronic gifts, please e-cycle those you can no longer use, and drop the Styrofoam packaging at our Northwest Citizen’s Convenience Center.

Recycling Dos and Don’ts

Please DO recycle curbside:

- Wrapping, tissue and paper of any color
- Cardboard packaging and boxes
- Holiday cards and envelopes.
- Bottles and jars – plastic and glass
- Steel and aluminum cans

Please DO NOT recycle:

- Foil-based wrapping material like bows and ribbons
- Christmas tree ornaments  
- Cookware and plates
- Contaminated paper products: napkins, paper towels, waxed paper, paper plates and tissues
- Contaminated plastic products: plates, utensils, cookware, carry-out cartons
- Plastic bags of any kind

Also please recycle these:

- Styrofoam material: It can ONLY be dropped off at the Northwest Citizen’s Convenience Center.
- Electronics can dropped-off at five convenient locations.
- Christmas Trees (Christmas tree mulching services will be offered at the Reedbird Avenue Citizen Convenience Center every  Friday and Saturday in January from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The dates are January 3rd & 4th, 10th & 11th, 17th & 18th, 24th & 25th and 31st.
